One of them is definitely Augmented Reality, also known as AR. Born mainly for video games and entertainment, now it is also becoming part of the production processes, bringing many advantages within companies.

AR is the reality as we perceive it, seen through high-tech devices that give us the opportunity to enhance the qualities that already offer us our five senses plus intellect.

Augmented Reality is an integration between physical reality and the digital world, through specific equipment or simply via the smartphone.
One of the most sophisticated tools that can be used within companies are the Microsoft smart glasses HoloLens 2.

These 3D viewers are presented as transparent glasses, which leave the user’s field of vision and total freedom of movement. In particular they allow you to virtually place windows and three-dimensional images on what at that moment is focused with the gaze.

The University of Bari and Upgrading have chosen Carlieuklima for the Augmented Reality Application

Wednesday 09/11/2022 we had the honor to host at our company the researcher Michele Gattullo of the Politecnico di Bari with the engineer Enrico Andrea Laviola, PhD student at the Politecnico. Along with them was also present Vito Perrone of Upgrading Services.
They tested on EUCERK the application of Augmented Reality to support the operator during the maintenance and assembly of the same.

Carlieuklima and AR (Augmented Reality) Thanks to this application and to the use of HoloLens visors, the maintainer can in fact visualize the technical manual of the product and the different components present inside the machine. Multimedia windows help him through specific instructions and technical steps to perform various tasks directly on the equipment. All this allows the staff to be completely autonomous, following the different steps they see through the screen.

In parallel, an Excel file is created on the computer that specifies the operations that have been performed and at which times. In this way anyone can consult them in the future. For a safer and more careful maintenance.

Results

During this day our staff had the opportunity to test firsthand the operation of Augmented Reality. They could see the great potential that this technological innovation can offer.
Among the main advantages were the simpler, safer, faster and more intuitive maintenance work.
The experiment was a great success and was welcomed with enthusiasm by all the testers. On this occasion they can confirm the advantages offered by the project presented by the Politecnico.
