One of the most used systems for air conditioning in commercial, industrial or domestic environments is represented by radiant panels. The most common installation is on the floor, but it is also possible to install them on the wall or ceiling. One of the main reasons for choosing this product is that it is used both in summer and in winter. Just change the temperature of the water inside the pipes to get a different effect: heating or cooling.

This is due to the effect of radiance, a phenomenon that transfers heat to the surrounding structures. Irradiation is a natural mechanism by means of which a colder surface absorbs the heat contained or generated by a surface with a temperature higher than its own. The heat that is captured is that transferred, through thermal radiation. The same operating principle of the sun.

What does it mean radiance?

The energy exchange between two corps with different temperatures doesn’t effect the air, but only the two affected surfaces. This causes an increase of surface temperature with benefit of the medium radiant temperature. In addition to exchanging or subtracting heat from the surrounding surfaces, the system also acts towards users of an environment and the main advantage of such a system is the uniformity of heat distribution.

How does a plasterboard radiant system work?

The ceiling radiant system is a radiant false ceiling because it’s installed on the ceiling and it’s completely covered by the plasterboard that, thanks to its accumulation and conduction properties, gradually releases heat in the environment. As for the other radiant systems, the ceiling heating can be used also for the cooling of the environments during summer. This type of system has many advantages and few disadvantages.
