The main advantages of a ceiling radiant system:

  • Facility of installation. It doesn’t require structural modifications or demolitions and it can be the most advantageous solution in case of renovations;
  • minimal aesthetic and optimisation of the civil environment. This because the system does not affect any visible space;
  • the radiant panels for the ceiling (and wall) heating system are already pre-assembled and their modularity represents a great advantage because they adapt their self to all architectural needs;
  • it solves humidity and mold problems. Thanks to the radiation, the heat spreads and descends through the walls, avoiding the formation of humidity;
  • better air quality and healthier environments. This because the tubes “run” along all the ceiling and distribute evenly the heat without air currents. The system is based on the radiant principle. The final result is more natural and promotes health. Moreover, without creating air currents inside the areas (unlike what happens for air conditioners and radiators) are the perfect solution in the presence of allergies;
  • silence of the system;
  • rapidity of start up. Radiant ceilings are the perfect solution also to heat second homes and big environments;
  • energy savings. This happens because the temperature reached by the circulating water in the system does not exceed 30-35, thus allowing lower consumption compared to other solutions;
  • the maintenance of the system is not required: any leaks are detected during testing and once installed, the system guarantees the absence of possible future breakages. This is an exclusive feature of BLife which, unlike other systems, has no joints inside the individual panels, the tube enters and exits whole from the single panel, guaranteeing the absence of possible typical joint failures;
  • the advantage of having only one system both for heating and cooling;
  • the costs per square meter of ceiling (and wall) radiant panels may seem high but if it is calculated that in a single element it performs the functions of heating, cooling and false ceiling, then its cost is advantageous compared to traditional air conditioning systems.

The disadvantages of a ceiling radiant system are very few:

  • It’s not recommended to buildings with high ceilings, especially if the room is narrow. This for reasons related to unfavourable geometries that limit the view factor between active and passive surfaces, lower than a radiator system;
  • structural limits that does not allow to install this type of system. For example inside historical environments or in presence of vaulted ceilings and frescoes.

The numerous advantages analysed suggest us why choosing a ceiling radiant system.

In order to function better even in summer, radiant systems must be integrated with an adequate dehumidification system that is able to remove latent heat and guarantee not only thermal comfort, but also air quality.
