Linamar redefines the corporate climate in Ruse with Eucold!
Linamar needed to install an efficient and sustainable adiabatic cooling system in terms of costs and maintenance at the Ruse production plant to improve employee comfort during the hottest days of the year.
Client
Linamar Light Metals Ruse EOOD (formerly Montupet Eood) is the Bulgarian subsidiary of the Canadian Linamar Group, a world leader in the production of precision metal components, modules, and systems for powertrains, transmissions, and body systems designed for global electric, traditional, and industrial vehicle markets.
Requirement
The production plant in Ruse (Bulgaria) specializes in the production of aluminum cylinder heads and steering knuckles, parts that are integrated into automobile engines.
The specific production activity carried out in these plants causes heat generation which, combined with summer climatic conditions, creates discomfort for workers. On the hottest days, the outdoor temperature exceeds 30°C, with peaks of up to 36°C. The high internal temperature, caused by operating machinery and the lack of an adequate cooling system, creates tiredness and fatigue among staff, resulting in a drop in productivity and a higher risk of accidents due to loss of concentration and heatstroke.
The company's requirement was to cool the production department areas during the summer period for a total area of 32,000 m2.
The containment of operating and maintenance costs was an important element requested by the client: a traditional air conditioning system would have involved excessively high installation costs and significant energy consumption due to the size of the plant.

The proposed solution
TFS Consult Ltd, our exclusive dealer in Bulgaria since 2005, proposed the installation of EUCOLD adiabatic cooling systems to the management. This is the most economical technology for cooling and ventilating large premises such as industries, foundries, craft workshops, warehouses, and depots. These are premises where, just as in the case of Linamar Light Metals, a traditional air conditioning system would imply high installation costs and high energy consumption.
The absence of refrigeration units reduces the system cost by 70% and electricity consumption by 80%, as the only energy required is that necessary for the fan's operation.
Thanks to the installation of evaporative coolers, the system size is reduced and installation, use, and maintenance are simplified. This was a fundamental aspect for the client company.
Given the significant plant height of 14.5 m, we proposed the installation of 38 Eucold evaporative coolers with a cooled air diffusion system that could reach the various workstations without causing discomfort to staff.
The system is managed by an LCD control system that allows for extremely easy management of various parameters for all cooling units, including temperature, humidity readings, and ventilation intensity.
Benefits obtained
Comfortable working environment
Employees can work safely thanks to an adequately cooled work environment with numerous air changes that guarantee healthy and constantly clean air.
Satisfied staff
Workers no longer suffer from tiredness and fatigue caused by high temperatures within the work areas. Furthermore, lapses in concentration and the risk of accidents have decreased.
Increased productivity
Thanks to a comfortable working environment and greater protection of the staff's psychophysical well-being, productivity has also improved, which usually tended to decrease during the summer months.
Eucold evaporative coolers
Industrial evaporative coolers are the most natural, effective, and economical technological solution for the summer cooling of industrial buildings, warehouses, commercial environments, laboratories, and workshops.
